The HydroBubble

The HydroBubble PEP has been developed in collaboration with various NHS professionals to transform traditional Bubble PEP. Offering a more sustainable, cost effective and child friendly solution to traditional methods of delivering Bubble PEP.

HydroBubble is a device used to deliver Bubble PEP; a chest physiotherapy technique used to clear secretions and phlegm from the lungs. PEP stands for Positive Expiratory Pressure, in Bubble PEP positive pressure is created by blowing bubbles into water.

HydroBubble works by users blowing bubbles into the colourful water bottle. This produces vibrations in the lungs which help loosen and move secretions into larger airways, to be coughed up. Keeping airways clear of phlegm and secretions helps to keep your lungs healthy. Build up in the lungs leaves you at an increased risk of infections.

Traditionally Bubble PEP physiotherapy has been administered using a 1 litre bottle of sterile water along with suction tubing. This method results in significant waste and poses challenges in proper cleaning, necessitating disposal after use.
